The Walking Dead Part 2

All men, apart from God, are dead…Walking dead.  Living, breathing, walking, spiritually, dead.

Man, apart from God, is dead because of one thing; because of one man (Adam), all of mankind has become The Walking Dead and they need to be brought to life through the only one that can give life…GOD.

God draws man to Himself, that man places his faith in Christ, is saved by grace, through faith, and then comes the holy shock paddles.  The holy spirit has many ministries and one of them is the power to bring to life that which was dead.

The Holy Spirit places us into the body of Christ and gifts us to the fullest so that we are capable of doing all Good works that God has prepared for us beforehand.  The moment one becomes an heir with Christ, the Spirit indwells that person and never leaves.  He doesn’t come later, one doesn’t have to be baptized first…it’s an instantaneous happening.  Glorious, amazing, miraculous, and holy.

He sanctifies, He equips, He gifts, He calls, He produces fruit, He empowers believers.  The Spirit creates spiritual life, conversion, and regeneration.  Before man is raised from the dead, spiritually, his condition is this: Dead in trespasses and sin, blind to the truth of the gospel, and profoundly corrupt to the core.  It takes the earth-shaking power exerted by the Holy Spirit to shock the Walking Dead to life.

This amazing power is the same power that will, one day, recreate a new you fit for eternal life in heaven.

In the state of Living Dead, we were under the dominion of sin and of death; we were dead in our trespasses and sins (Ephesians 2.)

But the Spirit of life came and set us free from the law of sin and death.  That is the first of all works of the Holy Spirit – Regeneration. Born again… given life from the dead.  You must be born of the Spirit, Jesus said in John 3:5, to Nicodemus.

Of course, what makes life possible for all Walkers is Jesus – the Son of God – gave Himself as an offering for our sin.

He took our place.
He died our death.
He paid the penalty in full and thus condemned sin.

The Law can condemn the sinner, but the Law cannot condemn sin but Christ in His death condemned sin in His own human flesh as an incarnate man.

So because of what Christ did on the cross, we can be given life.

But it’s not automatic and it’s not based on human will, it’s based on the work of the Holy Spirit who jolts all Walkers to life; whosoever believes in Christ will not perish, but will have everlasting life.  So arise…awake you sleepers, and be brought to life by the only One that can make your life meaningful.

Ephesians 5:13-14
“But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
